Love and country

I have many shining examples of love and great marriage in my life...mom and dad, my grandparents, Miranda and Blake... ;)

Congrats to both of them on their ACM wins last night. I loved the part right after Miranda delivered her speech for receiving Female Vocalist of the Year. She left the microphone still in tears and the camera cut to Blake, who was hosting the show. He was clearly touched by her emotion and kept shaking his head and going "Phew! Phew!" before he could talk. For such a power couple, they seem so completely down to earth. Like Tim and Faith. Those hotties...

Other highlights from the awards show:
Crazy dancers, AMAZING song
And this has been stuck in my head all day.

Ok, this is about as "celebrity gossip" as I get. :)

Nashville

Have you been watching the new ABC show "Nashville"? I got drawn right into it. Yes, I'm a sucker for anything with country music and a plot line. I never realized what a brilliant actress Connie Britton is...she's got the classic Faith Hill/Martina McBride thing down. But the song below from the premiere stopped. me. in. my. tracks. If you listen to anything today, listen to this song! It was originally recorded by The Civil Wars, a brilliant duo.

Names in songs

I laughed out loud when I stumbled upon this song by The Kinks with my name in it. (My full name, that is.) Even though it's about grim life in 19th Century Britain, hearing it for the first time was quite funny! Especially the shouty chorus...

Some songs seem to define how certain generations view a moniker. So, is your name in a song? Are you a "Sweet Caroline," "Jessie's Girl" or "Maggie May"? :)
